The Goal

The Target website was developed with the aim of supporting the annual toy sale project which generates millions of dollars in revenue for Target and is a highly exposed project within Target’s project stream. DXCPS was engaged to ensure the testing delivery met the project deadline and provided quality assurance best practices.

The Challenge

Target faced a number of challenges in their strategic goals including the lack of good analysis and system testing skills as well as a lack of good communication from previously hired testing companies.

There was also no clear direction for testing application and business functions and no presence in a testing capacity using an Agile framework.

Our Approach

Engaged at short notice, the DXCPS team hit the ground running, adopting an Agile methodology to add value to the testing phase whilst meeting and exceeding project deadlines. The team were responsible for test planning and execution, the creation of test scripts and acceptance criteria.

Consultants also ran reporting on defects and testing progress to present to the project manager. Given the tight time-frame of the project, liaison with business users, business analysts, team leaders and senior project managers on a highly regular basis was a key component of the interactive approach. Our consultants also provided mentoring to other test analysts and business users. DXCPS was able to deliver real value to Target.

The team worked closely with the stakeholders to ensure a quality project outcome and also contributed towards gap analysis on the current design that was utilised effectively and impacted outcomes on the project’s completeness.
